this is for berto again
b/c he likes it when i give him attention... dontcha bertie wertie... ok, i'll stop treating you like a lil shiba inu dog... fine. :) but "i looooooove animals."
jay: "do you love sheep?"
......

anyhoo... we just purchased the second set (3rd season) of the family guy. it's funny, but the ones i've seen on tv more recently were much funnier for some reason... (i'm talking about the episode that made a reference to orwell's 1984 again)

802.11-izzle
so i've finally come down to a decision. (if you call this a decision.. )
if i go with an 802.11g router, i'd say i want to go with dell... costs about the same as linksys, without the rebates. i am going by cnet's review. i'm not too sure what adapter i would go for... stan says avoid usb (i'd have to lean that way seeing that linksys supposedly pulled their g version out of the market temporarily...) so probably pci. what's the difference b/t pci and pcmcia?.. eh, i'm just being lazy... maybe i should just look it up... any suggestions on an adapter?

as anthony and scott have pointed out, dsl doesn't even provide service fast enough for b, so b should be sufficient. you should only get g if you plan on needing a very high data transfer rate between computers in your network. the guy at compusa (not like i'd buy anything there.. i keep hearing horror stories about rebates) said it's easier and faster to just directly connect the computers to transfer data. i'm so impressionable. i get this doe-like look on my face.. "ohhh.." then i think about it, i don't want to lug any of the three desktops around, especially if they're in different rooms, maybe i should just "future-proof" it... or maybe i'm 'just spoiled and i could just burn a cd or two.

i don't think it'd matter what brand you get for 802.11b. although i keep reading mixed reviews about linksys and netgear's 802.11g series... we'll see. and if i can recall correctly buy.com is cheaper than best buy for the linksys g stuff... we'll see...

on a side note- the best buy guy told me to "buy what you want to buy- it's not my money" whereas i suddenly got the idea to do something violent to him with one of the antennas on the router.. ok i really wasn't that bad. i was just frustrated. some help wouldn've been nice.
or maybe the fellows at circuit city with their untapped knowledge b/c they don't know how to communicate what they know. i'm sure they know what they're talking about, but if they can't help me, why even try? it's like they're pretending... "oh yeah... the um, linksys- g usb should be out in like a week.. or maybe you can get it in a different brand..." where he proceeds to pick up a belkin box which is clearly b... and i deem this wretched clone trooper worthless to my cause.

man this town is small...
first the local hardware store lets me pay my $6 "the next time i come down"
then the local pet store guy gives me free crickets b/c he doesn't have my size crickets... and the guy i thought was the hottest guy ever (in high school) is working at a local supermarket (but i've long since laid off that track- he didn't know i was alive) and just today i run into spencer at the library who knows my sisters and seems very happy to have found this connection (yes there's three of us, i'm the last one you'll meet spencer)... ok, now that i'm done with that filler info (ain't you thrilled?) i have more to keep you on your toosh...

books i got at the library:
*asian beauty- hey i need to learn how to do this makeup thing right!
*sweaty palms- yeah, i'm not done with learning how to interview yet
*the essential book of interviewing- not a catchy title, but it serves its purpose. nice list of questions in the back
*home networking solutions- duh, if you've been reading this blog lately...
*you can paint oils- and so can i... soon... hopefully...
*exploring painting- b/c we can't all be exploring japan like you roberto (brownie points for me for using the name of the day... mmmm, ben and jerry's brownie batter ice cream....)
*stupid white men- i'm sorry.. i dont' think all white men are stupid. especially you, you lovely white reader man you!
*dreamweaver 4 bible- see! look how nice i am! i dont' take people up on offers of teaching me dreamweaver or photoshop b/c i don't want to lead them on, (some greek guy in sf... i really don't know what's up with you greek men... like filipino women much, hmmm? hmmm? sorry prof christou... all those office hours were b/c i really did want to learn.. thanks for the C.... i wonder if he's reading this... i wonder if he's looked up my name on the internet to see what comes up.. i know past boyfriends have done it.. wait.. no, i'm not implying my prof is a past bf.. although he did buy me ice cream that one time in westwood... but i wouldnt' have accepted if i knew lynn wasn't 'coming with me!!!.. man this excerpt is getting outta control! - this is what you like phuc, isn't it? ISN'T IT?! ;)
*watercolor pencil magic- what? what? i didn't make up that name. look, if you see how nice the art is, you'd overlook that name too.
*and last but not least the codebreakers- history of secret communication- a girl can dream can't she? it's a big book. we'll see how far i get..

good night.. i'll let you know how much i exercise tomorrow.. wish me luck ;)
