argh...

i did actually write a pretty long post in santorini, greece, but it didn't go through blasted internet!

anyhow.. upon reflecting on my cruise.. it was a nice experience, but i don't know if i'd do it again, although i do hear the best of europe cruise is a lot more relaxing.  there was almost nobody my age.  little teenager gangs roamed the ship and couples and sr citizens relished the sunshine and endless food.  to have fun i would frequent the "disco" which played mostly latin music.. nothing against that stuff, but you can only take so much before it's like torture.  plus i didn't have friends or any random guys to dance with.. hahaha, i think i danced with one of the escorts once, giovanni.  on my "social" nights, i would also hang out at the casino, but only past a certain time when the more experienced players would come out to play.  i know this sounds kooky, but it just seemed like the table warmed up to them.. they just rolled better at craps.  oh yeah.  i like craps.  f--ing gambling!!!  my dad gave me 10 bucks to play next to him and before i knew it, the roll kept getting bigger and bigger.  when this one younger guy would roll, i'd pull my money out.   mean huh.  hehehehhe.. :)  the next day i played again with my minimum $60 at craps and came home with 78 more bucks not including the 10 i tipped.  this beginners luck is so bad!  the next day i played again and went from 60 down to 24 and then back up again to 73...  hahaha, and i was sweatin.. sad i didn't win more, happy i broke even, wondering if this whole gambling thing is worth it.  i think i want a a craps video game.. or just to play for fun at home..  hahahah.   i know not the same, but there's something about r0lling the die and calling out the numbers that really calls to me.  damn it berto!  maybe i shouldn't go to vegas.  hahahahah.  le sigh.

some of the places i've been... i can't believe i was there.  there's really no way to capture what you've seen and felt.  the scenery is just too surreal and overwhelming.  i took hundreds of pictures... got to fish out and delete the bad ones.. but hopefully it's worth it....  still, favorite place to visit would be florence... what it lacked in seaside scenery it made up in history, art and activities... you could bike the streets, see michaelangelo's grave, buy leather and other interesting presents, eat good food, meet nice people, and just sort of hang out and just be.

a notable place would be amalfi in italy.  it looks as close to a hillside paradise as you can get, cliffs, sparkling water, winding roads, pretty houses and hotels and art.... ok everything had it's ups and downs... i kind of wish i went to germany, but i'll save that for next time.  i want to see castles and roam on my own...

as for cruises, there are so many people from different countries working aboard the ship.  there were so many filipinos who would hook it up with the drinks.  the majority were from spanish speaking places.  the hardest job was being a waiter, the best i'd say was the entertainment staff or management... say production management.  the dancers don't get tipped, but they seem to have a great time.  i must say cruises do have a great technique in getting people excited about activities.  we had a hilarious 50's night with great music, a hula hoop competition, a twist competition and an elvis competition.  one girl did 15  hula hoops, an elderly filipino lady shook her rump and an older man kept taking off his shirt for the elvis round.  the toga party was really fun also... they did funny takes on the electric slide.  the only thing we didn't do as a group was stay outside to enjoy the sun.  i dont particularly like humidity... and i don't like to get dark so i spent most of my time inside.  next time i'll go with more friends and do more research on which places need to have a tour (ieL Sicily) and which places don't (ie: mykonos and santorini)  i better go.. hope things are well with others... art lovers can inquire about a piece i bought at the art auction....
:)
