ingha, my parents, and i met up to watch Phantom of the Opera, served Jerry Bruckheimer style. I've never seen the musical before, but it was so awesome. i can see how the love songs are classic. but the best part was my parents. it was the very first scene and my seat was still cold when my mother leaned over and whispered, "is that the phantom?" i hastily explained to her in a "she does this all the time" tone, that i dont' know the story yet either and rolled my eyes dramatically. i love her and this makes me feel frustrated and want to laugh at the same time. i really like all this over the top mushy, musical stuff so i really enjoyed the songs. suddenly to my left i hear a humming so faint that i'm not sure i'm actually hearing it. i started to get that frustrating laughter feeling again, but as i turned i noticed it wasn't my mother humming. my dad freakin hummed for the entire love song. i nearly died. heheheheh... so throughout the movie, the main character's name is said, sung, screamed, sighed, laughed, cursed, at least 20 times. at the very end, her name gets brought up again and my mom finishes off the movie with another hardly hushed question, "who's christine?"

but yes, this movie is pretty great if you like musicals. the costumes are great, scenery, actors, etc... everything is great. you must like over the top flicks if you want to see this one.
