indo + cold
i know it's late, but i thought, hey it's already late, a few minutes more won't hurt...hehehe as usual life never slows down or goes as expected. i came back from indonesia with an extremely dry, but not sore throat on the plane. i thought i was sick. boy was i wrong. i don't know what it was but it hit me so hard i pretty much just slept half the week away, literally. unfortunately it wasn't that nice, compfy sleep, but a marriage of naps where moments of consicousness where only to remember how uncomfortable i was and how my back hurt and it was too hot.. boo. here's a random fact i know i've said before.. i found out in bio3/4 my senior year of high school that the gooey stuff that comes out of your nose is actually dna of all the bacteria that's dying inside of you. my techer ms rustia gave us an in class example with shark sperm. (insert sick porno star comment "ooo yum!")
i must say that i do have the bestest boyfriend ever. even though i looked like crap and couldn't really move, he came over with chicken noodle soup and stayed to spend time and talk to me and gave me a back massage. yeah i said massage, none of this rubbing business. you people need to press hard on my back! hehehe. anyhoo, i know this bf business is normal stuff, but i consider it extra sweet when you're sick bc he's risking getting sick himself.
anyways indo went so fast i feel like i didn't have enough time, but at the same time i was really anxious to get back to fight that impending feeling of work building up. i really was only at work for half a day when i felt sick enough to go home. pretty bad. tomorrow is going to be one of those days where i carry a box of kleenex around all day, hmph, mental note, buy the lotion tissue for times like these...
All in all, indo was about the same. except my aunt lives in this house 10 times the size of her last one. and my great uncle now lives in possible bombing area. most of our time was spent eating out with tons of friends and relatives i haven't seen for a long time. every day was breakfast made by the maids, exotic fruits like salak also called snake fruit, mangosteen, lychee, large avocados, sweet mangoes, fresh orange juice and coffee. sometimes we had fried rice too. lunch and dinner was always booked with someone.
there really isn't anything to do in large cities like jakarta except go to the mall. i completed my balinese costume with a few pieces, a belt, a few hair pins.... bali was pretty fun too, but i wish i got to go out more. b/c our friend owned a house that was way out there, getting to tourist places was harder. i came home from bali with some personalized bamboo name tags, a sculpture of two balinese people sitting, a garuda (traditional balinese sculpture), and a few little trinkets, boxes, pens, bookmarks etc.. i probably shouldn't blog this, but (dun dun dun) did you know that the asking price under the wooden sculptures is for tourists? if you speak indonesian, they usually give you the 40-60% off for locals..
we ended the trip with the surprise 30th wedding anniversary of auntie kathrine, bennet and allison's mom and aida's aunt. (can't remember her dad's name) they told them that they were going to an extremely expensive winetasting party in a suite in the jakarta hyatt hotel. that suite was SWEET. the dad came to the party dressed in jeans and a polo. hehehe. classic! they walked into the dark backroom and we yelled surprise, but this confetti shooter blasted confetti at the dad like a gunshot so he got scared and turned around. hehehehe. all the girls were getting so tearyeyed. i wish my family was like that. it's not that we don't care, we just have so MUCH family that it's hard to get teary eyed about everything.
hmm, i think i want to lose a little weight. forreals. hehehe. not sure how yet, but we'll see....
