barcelona
dude berto, don´t even get me started on european keyboards. it took me the majority of my internet time just to find the "@" sign because the 2 has like 3 things on it and you need two different function buttons.currently i´m at an online video gaming station in barcelona near la sangrada de familia. annabelle went inside, but i didn´t feel like paying again since i did this 2 years ago. we keep sleeping so late... like 4am and then waking up late around noon... almost everything closes at 8pm except for restaurants so we´re usually eating and drinking til then. we´ll probably try to go to a club tonight, probably one of those crazy ones with a pool... hehehe. it´s weird, i´m not sure i like barcelona much, but everyone annabelle´s talked to really loves it here..
the gothic quarters are pretty cool looking with all their shops. there are sooo many clothing stores...
i just walked into a polish grocery store next to this place and the lady was like "uhhhh, yeah?" bought a soda for 0.75€ which is awesome considering next to the vatican the same thing is 2.50 €. crazy crazy.
not much happening in barcelona. wish i had spent more of these days in paris or italy or something.
everyone please send me txt msgs on the att turned cingular website <http://www.mymmode.com/messagecenter/init>
i can get them for free, but to send them costs 50 cents each on my cell.
ROME
two nights ago annabelle and i didn´t anticipate our trip from rome to barcelona and ended up rushing to catch a train... we were drenched in sweat... then the airport was SOOOO STUPID. they had 3 stations open for diff flights to spain and although we were 1h 20 min early, they waited until 30 min before the flight to rush us.. so we were running again.. bleh... and it turns out our hotel near las ramblas would have been much better near the gothic quarters.
oh yeah. annbelle and i get along really good and we make it a point to always try to say things straight, but i´ve come to realize that there are a few things i shouldn´t let her do.. like read a map or figure out where we´re going. hehehehe. not that i did any better in rome...
in rome we took this greenline tour bus instead of teh recommended red one that is more popular and hated it. the bus left a minute early from the second stop and since the buses were ´not as frequent as the red ones we decided to walk to the next site )from vatican to a l¡plaza and pantheon) and from there we had no idea where the other two closest bus stops were. soooo mad! apparently the only way to become familiar with the stops was to ride the bus for a complete revolution and then go to where you wanted to go. the map would say ¨so and so plaza", but teh plaza would be huge and we had no way of telling where the stop was.. freaking crap. sold on teh airconditioning and that it went closer to the colliseum (which btw, wasn´t open after 4 bc of the stupid billy joel and bryan adams concerts)
the next day annabelle and i bought tix for teh red bus and while standing in line, we told teh guy how much we hated his bus. then while we were in the long line some one else came and tried to sell us the same tix.. we told him it sucked and the conversation escalated to the point where he was yelling at us....
me: why dont´you get out of our face and just go sell your stupid tickets to other people. we´re not telling them how much it sucks. just go
him: tell whoever you want, i dont´care. thousands of people love it and only you dont´. you don´t know how to read a map
me: you don´t know how to speak english
annabelle: get the f--- out of our face
him: F--- YOU F--- YOU i´m from colorado (in his heavy accent) you cocksuckeeers go back home dont´come to rome
after that i think a security guard was casually standing next to me... i think someone complained (luckily) and as we moved up in the line, i noticed that the guard moved up with us...
phew.
anyhoo, we saw the vatican museums that day (the vatican the day before). the sistine chapel was awesome! so was raphael´s work (he´s buried at the pantheon). we kinda ran through a lot of the stuff, but luckily we also got the student discount price. :) the vatican museums are closed on sundays, but the vatican is free of charge the 1st sunday of the month. annabelle and i got this awesome book there for 25€. the guy selling it was actually a mech eng volunteering a month of his time to sell the books. he told us a lot about the paintings and what not to miss...
like how michélangelo´s judgement day was copied by one of his pupils in naples who with the permission of the pope made everyone naked. (we´re born naked, we leave naked) but teh next pope covered everyone up. then after a cleaning years later, some of the clothes accidentally came off.. :)
anyhoo i better to meet annabelle and grab some grub.
adios amigos. (lame multilingual blurb from every place we go )
